The participation in two of the races serves to prepare Audi Sport Team
Joest and the Audi R15 TDI for the start at the 24 hours of Le Mans. The
début was quite successful: The Audi R15 TDI has won the 8 hours of Le
Castellet (France) and in doing so left a strong impression.

First race, first victory: with the exploit in the 8-hour race at Le Castellet, the season opener of the 2010 Le Mans Series, Audi Sport managed to continue a nice tradition. After the R8 (Sebring 2000), the R10 TDI® (Sebring 2006) and the R15 TDI® (Sebring 2009) the diesel racing sportscar, which is internally designated as the “R15 plus”, is the fourth consecutive Audi prototype to have won its first race straight away. Audi Sport Team Joest entered just one vehicle, for Dindo Capello and Allan McNish. And this car was clearly running in front after eight hours.

After the test race at Le Castellet, Audi’s dress rehearsal for Le Mans followed in May at the 1000-kilometre race at Spa-Francorchamps. All three Audi R15 TDI® cars were entered in the event. At the wheel were the nine drivers who will also race at Le Mans. And the technical configuration, as well, was exactly the same as at the 24 Hours. For the drivers this meant unusually low downforce for the circuit in the Ardennes, but for the engineers and technicians of Audi Sport Team Joest it produced valuable data for Le Mans. The third place for Dindo Capello, Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish was just of secondary importance.
